Sizdah Bedar is an Iranian festival which is celebrated on the 13th day of Nowruz. Sizdah Bedar known as the Nature Day. Iranians have a tradition on this day, they celebrate spending the day outdoors, parks or the countryside. Sizdah Bedar is a day for lot of laughs, funs. Families packs their lunch and take the road to the parks with their family and friends.
Another custom is at the end of the picnic day is to throw away the Sabzeh -from the Nowruz Haft Seen Table - in a stream or a river. The sabzeh is supposed to have all the sickness, pain and ill fate hiding on the path of the family throughout the coming year.
Sizdah Bedar is also believed to be a special day asking for rain.
Another custom is for single girls to tie a knot with the sabzeh and make a wish to find a husband asap before throwing the sabzeh away.
